   据世界天然气7月1日消息:日本三井集团(MOL)的全资子公司欧洲海洋物流公司(EML)运营的使用生物燃料的汽车运输船已经开始试航。

  MOL Group begin trials of biofuel-powered car carrier

  Sea trials have begun for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ (MOL) wholly owned subsidiary’s Euro Marine Logistics N.V. (EML) operated car carrier using biofuel.

  The City of Oslo car carrier is the first vessel to be trialled. Biofuel for the vessel was supplied by GoodFuels after a deal was signed with EML.

  An advantage of using GoodFuels’ biofuel is its focus on sustainability: ship fuel is generated using raw materials that do not lead to deforestation and food supply issues, and it can also be used on vessels without changing engine specifications.

  This fuel generation method is able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 80-90% in the well-to-exhaust process. about 470 tonnes of biofuel were bunkered on the carrier at the Dutch port of Flushing.

  MOL Group’s new environmental strategy, ‘MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.1’, was announced on 18th June 2021, and it details the importance of industry-wide biofuel use with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in ocean transport.

  The company intends to reach its GHG emission goals with a five-step initiative, beginning with the adoption of clean alternative fuels such as LNG, synthetic methane, and hydrogen.

  MOL then intend to equip vessels with energy-saving technologies before boosting operating efficiency by reducing fuel consumption via real-time monitoring of vessel operational status.

  The final steps involve creating business models to enable net-zero GHG emissions and expanding low-carbon and decarbonisation projects, such as offshore wind power farm projects, hydrogen, and ammonia.
